THE CONCEPTION
The journey of ADSSEOSA started as far back as 1998 when members of the Great 1995 set had the first ever reunion get together, which took place at the prestigious PTI Conference Centre, Effurun. It was a well celebrated gathering with representatives from 1993, 1994, and 1996 sets present.
This move then drove us into the concept of actualizing the dream of the formation of an Old Students Association. By the year 1999, the dream of an old student's association started gaining momentum. A miniature constitution, logo, and billboard were drafted, which was proposed to be mounted in the school compound. Also, Bar. Okiemute Esombi (1993 set) was contacted to oversee the legal aspect of the association and facilitation of the registration process as well. A name was also proposed for the association - Army Day Old Student Association (ADOSA). The school management was met and briefed of the set intentions. Consultations were also done with the pioneer set members and older sets as well.
Unfortunately, the ambition couldn't hold as expected because of the drive of members to pursue their educational dreams, and all association related matters were put aside. Despite the fact that there was no WhatsApp and GSM, then, the mode of communicating was through personal contacts. The meeting point was at 7up Effurun (opposite PZ).
Over the years, members of 95' set have been actively engaged in various meetings that have geared towards the formation of ADSSEOSA. 95' set played key roles that pivoted the first general reunion in 2019, bringing in members of sets of the 90s and even the early 2000s.
Members of the 95 set served as Head of Media and Publicity, thereby creating awareness of the AGM and ADSSEOSA, creation of the existing Facebook page, and also head of the first Electoral committee.
This is a brief story on how the 95' Set propounded the birth of ADSSEOSA in 1999 and have been actively involved in anything ADSSEOSA to date.
THE OFFICIAL REGISTRATION
Army Day Secondary School Effurun Old Students Association (ADSSEOSA) is the umbrella body of all ex-students of Army Day Secondary School Effurun (ADSSE). The birth of the association was realized with its formal registration with the CAC in November 2018 as a result of the coming together of the Pioneer Set (ADSSE Class of 1992) members on a WhatsApp Platform created on the 5th of September 2017 by one its members. Their coming together brought about the need to have a formal association that shall be an umbrella body for all old students of Army Day Secondary Schools Effurun (ADSSE).
The then Chairman of the Class of 92, Mr Oghomwen Iyobosa Jude mandated Mrs. Igho Coker to drive the process that resulted in the formal registration of the association. Mr. Danjuma Sule then Vice Chairman of the Class of 92, supported by Mr. Lawrence Arinze were mandated to reach out to key stakeholders in other sets and sensitize them on the association and seek their cooperation. Through this process the support and commitment of Mr Eguono Omonigho (Class of 93) and Dr Sunday Oghuvwu (Class of 94) was obtained. With three graduating sets onboard, the process of registration kicked started immediately.
Following this, seven members of the association namely: Oghomwen Iyobosa Jude, Becky Ireneson Ojo, Igho Coker, Danjuma Sule, Lawrence Arinze, Eguono Omonigho and Sunday Oghuvwu were ratified by over 70 committed members and the process of registration was followed through with the CAC with the seven members of the association as its Trustees.
After about 7 to 8 months of putting together documentation as required by the CAC and seeking legal advice, including placement of Newspaper adverts/notice in three national dailies, the association was formally approved for registration with the CAC in November 2018 with Reg No. 120547.
